American Portraits is an ongoing, multi-faceted musical project
that I (Jonathan Levin) have cultivated over the past 10 + years, which has expanded to include the talents and inspirations of some of my closest friends and collaborators.
The 2025 Cross-Country Tour is a collaboration between Tyrone Chambers and myself, conceived to reach diverse audiences across the US in the most creative, personal, and compelling ways possible through our unique musical skills.
Combining our unique musical skills, we’re creating programs that are moving, playful, and dynamic...
...blending elements of classical, jazz, traditional American folk songs and spirituals plus original arrangements and compositions —music that tells stories of unity, resilience, and national pride. At the end of April, we’ll pack up my trusty Honda CR-V, and share this musical journey with audiences from North Carolina to California. But this isn’t just about concerts. It’s about connection.
We’re bringing music to the people where they are — not just to concert halls, but to churches, community centers, outdoor spaces, and other non-traditional venues, with a special emphasis on reaching underserved communities.
Beyond this, I’ll be capturing this journey on film - the performances, behind the scenes of touring, the people we meet, and the places we visit, weaving it all into a documentary series that showcases the vibrant tapestry of the American cultural and physical landscape.
